Protected Planet
Protected Planet is an interactive mapping website.hat provides information and media on protected areas across the world. A joint initiative between the United Nations Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the application serves data from the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA), the only global, spatially-referenced information source on parks and protected areas. The server components, consisting of PostGIS and GeoServer, were built by developers at the UNEP, while the application was designed and built by Vizzuality, a Madrid-based informatics company.
