The Comparinator: Census change, 2000 to 2010

CUNY Comparinator

The Center for Urban Research at the CUNY Graduate Center combines OpenLayers and jQuery to create a “before and after” effect using two sets of perfectly aligned maps to visualize race/ethnicity data from the US Census in 2000 and 2010. Drag a slider bar over the maps while zooming and clicking on individual Census blocks for detailed information. The two maps appear as one and pan together seamlessly as you drag the slider or move the map. In addition to OpenLayers and jQuery, technologies include ArcGIS Desktop and Server to create the choropleth map tiles.
