OpenGeo Announces Online Training for PostGIS, GeoServer & OpenLayers

New York, New York, September 20 - OpenGeo, the leader in open source geospatial web services, announces a new training program to expand remote training support for users of the OpenGeo Suite around the globe.

Kicking off this week, the online training program will allow more people to tap into the open source ecosystem with these detailed courses developed by core software developers of PostGIS, GeoServer, and OpenLayers. Unlike recorded webinars, live instructors offer the best aspects of classroom interaction without the need for travel.

The new training courses augment the recently announced OpenGeo Partner Program to provide support around the increasing demand for the OpenGeo Suite. Interested participants can register in advance for the various monthly courses.

"Training has always been paramount at OpenGeo. The establishment of our global Partner Program requires a complementary training program," noted Chris Holmes, OpenGeo President. "To support the compounding demand with our partner program, online training brings our highly requested courses to users world-wide at a minimal cost."

"We have worked to make our online training program for the OpenGeo Suite both comprehensive and interactive," notes Eddie Pickle, OpenGeo Senior Vice President. "Trainees can virtually 'raise their hands' and ask questions of our instructors in real time." Attendees to the training courses will install the software on their own systems and follow along with the instructor. These half-day workshops cover the basics of PostGIS, GeoServer, and OpenLayers, and are intended for those with little to no experience with the software. Future course offerings will include training for GeoExt and the OpenGeo Suite. Come learn about the best in geospatial software from the experts at OpenGeo.
